Sample TESU BACS and BSBA CIS Double Degree Plan (rachel83az version)
Information[edit]
This degree plan is similar to the degree plan created by LevelUP. I (rachel83az) have attempted to clean it up and clarify to make it easier for pre-enrollment TESU students to understand.
This degree plan will need refinement as more students complete the process. It is a work in progress.
RA credits[edit]
All TESU degrees are required to have at least 24 RA credits or RA-equivalent foreign credits plus 6 more RA credits from the TESU capstone & cornerstone. If you do not like the given suggestions, feel free to check out the General Education requirements roadmap for other classes/substitutions.
TESU credits[edit]
It is recommended, though not strictly required, that students complete a 16-credit flat-rate term at TESU in order to avoid the residency waiver fee. This plan assumes that students will follow this plan. The classes to be taken during this term are:
- SOS-1100 Fact, Fiction, or Fake? Information Literacy Today (cornerstone)
- LIB-4950 Liberal Arts Capstone for BACS
- BUS-4210 Business Administration Capstone for BSBA CIS
- CIS-1070-EP Computer Concepts and Applications
- CIS-3510 Software Engineering
- ENG-2980 Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice (only offered some months) or APS-1000 Medical Terminology (may be difficult/too dense for some students; still may be possible to squeak by with at least a passing C due to course structure)
If students decide to pay the residency waiver, they may or may not need additional RA or RA-equivalent credits. See below.
Finnish University credits[edit]
This plan makes extensive use of credits from XAMK and Metropolia. This is a cheap and relatively inexpensive way to get RA-equivalent credit. The main drawback of this method is that it is difficult to tell ahead of time exactly how many credits a student will obtain for each class. Finnish university credits have previously been evaluated as being worth anywhere from 0.5 to 5 credits for every ECTS. As a result, it is best to plan on the low side (needing to take 30 or more ECTS) and hope for a better evaluation.
By following this plan, students should obtain more than 15 ECTS from Metropolia and/or XAMK.
Most of the Metropolia courses are covered under the "Degree Programme of Information Technology" for 579€. The course "JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures" is not available for separate purchase.

Part H. Additional AOS Electives.
6 credits.
Can be natural science, math, and/or computer science. This is part of the AOS and cannot have any overlapping courses with the BSBA CIS. Because of this, CSM Learn and Introduction to Statistics probably will not work here.

BACS Capstone[edit]
LIB-495 taken as elective for BSBA CIS.
BACS Electives[edit]
30 credits.
This should be filled in already with courses from BSBA CIS. If somehow missing credits, take any non-overlapping courses from Sophia, Study.com, Saylor Academy, or OnlineDegree.com. Students may also take additional courses from Metropolia to ensure sufficient credits. Metropolia has 9 courses that cost nothing, only pay for evaluation.
